okay, this is a request for Espiritus on Ww, also on DeviantART. yes it looks emo, but oh well. a REQUEST! people.
the character is charme, a golden retriever. this is the description from Espiritus :
"He's a choppy-furred Golden Retriever [So obviously he's golden-ish/Retriever-ish], with a feathery tail. His eyes are green. Could you have him tilting his head to the side, kind of leaned over, and with his back to a levitating red door? And I'd like his hind-legs to be bound with vines, and his fore-legs tied together, with vines. The vines have sharp thorns on them, and they're attached to rose bushes wedged in beside the door. The door, and Charme (the Retriever) are in a forest, where the trees are black and dead, and the ground is burned. All of the plants are shriveled. Red fur hangs over Charme's eyes, by the way, and he's grinning like a maniac, a kind of insane grin.
Quad [Four-legged], please.
Also, Charme has longer ears than any other Retriever, and if you can, make him seem like some kind of gentle-man despite his grin and surroundings."
prismacolor pencils on computer paper, about 25 minutes to complete.
Errm. Charme thinks he's comatose in a hospital somewhere, or he's just trapped in a dog's body. Hence the red door, and the vines. Doesn't make that much sense, but to-- Augh. I could only explain it through a long post, and I'm too lazy. xD
Nah, I will. You see, Charme was once a human, a gambler, a mercenary, a con-artist. He was also in possession of one of the most seven deadliest sins: lust. This didn't come of good use, however, for when he swindled a voodoo priestess, she cursed him, and the next day he woke up as a dog, wiped of his memories. Gradually, day-after-day, his memories returned. He was able to take care of himself from being on the run from the police, having learned the ways of survival. He was a genius, after all. Anyhow, at last the memory of being a human returned completely, and he went back to the priestess, easily locating her. He asked that she turn him back into a human, and she refused. Hence the vines, he was trapped in this body. His memory wore away again, his mind with it. So he began to believe he was comatose in an asylum somewhere, or in a hospital, unable to break free, hence the door. The red-ness of the door symbolizes his being a killer, which he was turned into three months after being cursed. The smile symbolizes his insanity, which is reflected in the fact that he still grooms himself. He used to wear a cross necklace, but it was torn off in the prologue of my novel.
If you read that, you are now knowledgeable. If not... well, it doesn't matter. xD
Across the globe, 27 million men, women, and children live in some form of slavery. That is more people at this moment than in all the centuries of the Atlantic Slave Trade. Something must be done. This contest serves two purposes: Raising awareness about human trafficking and raising funds for the Not For Sale organization.
Open to all mediums. Deadline is March 10, 2010 @ 11:59pm PST.
